Since I can remember, my family and I haven’t eaten any red meat… although we still ate chicken and fish. However, after a Biology experiment at school, I decided that I never wanted to eat any meat again.
Before coming to my parents with my decision to become vegetarian, I made sure to do a lot of research. As meat is a source of protein, I had to find some other ways to incorporate protein into my diet.
It’s only been a short while since I’ve removed all meat from my diet, but I feel so much better and have way more energy. One thing that I noticed right away is that I don’t feel so bloated after a meal; For me, that’s a really good thing.
I must admit, the hardest thing about becoming vegetarian was removing chicken from my diet. I used to LOVE chicken, and still crave it sometimes! Oh yeah, and sweets– you know those cookies and pies and pastries we all love so much? I still crave those, too… although I’m trying to find healthier alternatives to some of my favorite desserts.
Some people have asked me…How can you live without meat? Well, it’s easier than you think…and everything tastes so much better. When you take responsibility for what you put in your body, it becomes easier and even fun. 🙂
As I’m learning new things about being vegetarian, I’ll share them here on Raw and Fresh. It’s my way of giving back a bit. I hope you and your families will benefit from this knowledge and enjoy a happy, healthy, and meat free life!
